Paul Leopard

Digital Engineering & MBSE Team Lead

After being with DESE Research, Inc. for 8 years from 2003 to 2011, Paul Leopard returned in September 2023 as the Digital Engineering and Model-Based Systems Engineering Lead. In this diverse role, he leads and is responsible for contract execution, recruiting/staffing, and concepts of operation for new Digital Engineering efforts at DESE. Paul has served the defense and space industry for over 43 years with extensive experience in Space, Missile Defense, and Tactical Weapon Systems modeling and simulation, including 6DOF vehicle dynamics, scenario development, and simulation validation against flight test data; RF/MMW/EO/IR Sensor field test data collection and analysis; RF/MMW/EO/IR Sensor performance evaluation, autonomous sensor algorithms (detection, discrimination, recognition, classification) design and performance analysis; and GPU-based sensor scene generation, including RF/MMW/EO/IR sensor data simulation and high-resolution RF and radiometric terrain modeling. 

Paul holds a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
